For the first three weeks, students in the course will spend time learning the following with an experienced player and coach:
Warm up games
Teaching proper throwing mechanics with drills
Skill drills (including basic accuracy, dodging, blocking and catching drills)
Strategy drills to teach basic strategies
Games to practice skills
Dodgeball Rules
There will be some online homework throughout the course to support the in-person sessions these. This will be given through Google Classroom. This is the Level 1 Coaching Theory Course, outline below and is included in the cost.
For the remainder of the sessions, students will get the opportunity to both observe and to teach the Junior session that is running at the same time, starting with small parts of the lesson and building to a whole lesson later in the term. This will be supervised by various coaches. Time not spent coaching or observing may be spent:
Helping with drill setup and refereeing
Learning about the concepts listed above
Giving positive feedback to players
All registered players are invited to attend the Teen Session/Throwbots Training afterwards from 7:30-9:00pm.
Requirements to Pass the Course: Students will be required to attend 80% or more of the sessions and fully complete the Level 1 Coaching Theory Course.
