Spring Fling Dodgeball Tournament | 15th & 16th November | Registrations are OPEN!

While we want to support the development of young dodgeball players by teaching skills and building confidence, we also want to give them the opportunity to compete in official competitions. We ran the first Spring Fling in 2024 and it was a massive success. Naturally, we want to continue to build upon that. In 2025 we will be adding both Teen and Adult divisions and move the tournament across two days.

Date: Saturday & Sunday 15-16th November, 2025

Time: 9am-4pm (Times TBC, depending on number of teams)

Location: Te Atatū Peninsula Community Hub

Level: Competitive

Costs: Individuals $30 | Teams $140 | Additional Team for an Individual: $15 | Additional Division for a Team: $60 | If a Women's or Girls' team is an additional team, then the cost is free | Throwbots DC members and UDNZ players $5 discount for Individuals per team, or $5 for each member on your team.

Divisions: We are aiming to have the following divisions. Players can play in an older division, but not younger. NOTE THAT WE HAVE CHANGED THE DAYS FOR EACH DIVISION due to feedback.

Adults/Open (Saturday)
Teens - 18 & under (Saturday)
Intermediate - Year 8 and under (Sunday)
Junior - Year 6 and under (Sunday)
Girls Only - We will try to create 2-3 teams, prioritising keeping players from the same sessions together, though we may have a wider age range for this. If we have girls' teams that register as a full team, they can play in both the girls' division and the relevant age group. This will be for any girls in the Intermediate or Junior age groups. (Sunday)
Women Only - If there is interest for at least 10 women, we will have a women's game. If interest is high we can potentially add a third or fourth team (minimum 5 women per team, but we will aim to play with 6). (Saturday)

Youth Teams: We will work with each of the current Youth Dodgeball sessions to create teams, which we have given club names:

Pakuranga Pukeko
Onehunga Orcs
Te Atatuu Taniwha
Peninsula Penguins.

If you sign up for one of these we will work to sort you out. However, we are happy to have teams sign up on their own, but please liaise with us asap so we know what numbers to expect.

Shirts for Youth Teams: These are available but to ensure we can order them on time, your entry/order needs to be in by 11th October 2025

Rules & Format: We will be playing 6v6 games (we may reduce this to 5v5 to allow for more teams) with 7 inch foam balls, following the general rules of Dodgeball as set out by the WDBF. The Youth Dodgeball format has the following exceptions:

Junior, Intermediate & Girls' games will be played on Badminton courts.

Referees: Each team will be required to supply at least one Certified Referee. Details on how to get certified will be shared soon. We will be looking to hire a few other Certified Referees to work games that are not in their division.

Court Size: Teen and Adult games will be played on full sized Dodgeball Courts (9x18m) and Women's games will be played on a Women's Court (9x16m) as per the rules.

Adult Teams: 6 Max
